About the AI

Every conversation partner on SayHao is an AI. No real person reads or writes your practice chats in real time. We remind you of this at the start of every conversation and again if you practice for a long time.

The partner is built on Claude, a large language model made by Anthropic. It plays a role in a scene (a cashier, a driver, a doctor) so you can practice Chinese. It can make mistakes, including in Chinese. If a reply looks wrong, tap ⚑ Report under it.

What it is not

• Not a real person, friend or partner.
• Not a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser or counselor. The doctor scene is language practice only.
• Not for anyone under 18.

Guardrails

• The partner stays in learning scenes and declines romantic, sexual, hateful or violent requests.
• We check messages for signs of self-harm or crisis. If we see them, the role-play stops and we show crisis support. See Safety.
• Daily limits keep the service affordable and discourage over-use.
